Sunday afternoon, storm rolling in, and a ballgame. What a wonderful day to make pictures. I photographed the ride downtown toward the stadium, taking in the city I hadn’t created any photographs of since I was 18 years old and had spent a day with friends walking around loose in. Growing up here in St. Louis, I remember how crowded it was in the city then. Now, I look around bemused how the buildings had changed, how the city had grown up and made friends with all the different trends and architecture to pass by and bleed through here. I had so much to see…and at 35 miles per hour, an old 50 1.8 on my Nikon, and the car’s clean front and passenger-side windows to capture time from, I had the opportunity to click more than a few frames I could later go back to and actually ’see’ places familiar to me in the city that Blues were born live in, Scott Joplin wrote ragtime in, and I had blinked and suddenly found myself all grown up in…
