Author's Description:

With bright color and a blown out background, Sugar, takes the cake as one of the only series of photographs that I’ve craved sweet buttercream topped cupcakes during shooting. The tulips’ bright fuchsia petals tore through the white background as I studied the intensity of the color and tried to master capturing the tone, rarely with any success. Full of techniques I mastered with Tulips in Winter, Sugar left me questioning how I could slow down my light in order to create better tones.
